Now also uploaded; A short electomix (40 minutes) put together using a few recently purcahsed tracks.  This was really just a quick run through to get a feel for the tracks.

Again, not perfect and not generally up to my standard to release tracks, but quite a fe people have been asking for something and this should satisfy your darker electro musical taste.

I’m looking at adding a mixes section to the site and bringing them over there through some fancy plugin action to make things a bit easier.

As the sunshine and summer draws to a close, and after a few weeks of being asked to get some mixes out there, I’ve uploaded a ‘Summer’ House mix I rushingly put together a few weeks ago. It’s not perfect, hence my reluctance to release it but it’s got some really great tracks and is a good collection of some of my favourite Funky Summerish tunes.

When I’ve got some time I’ll re-record it on my new mixer (woop!), which should sound smoother and sort my few slips out that are in there.  I’m also going to upload an Electrohouse mix shortly which was also done around the same time, again, a bit rough but overall not a bad listen.

One feature I’ve been running on my Facebook page for the past couple of weeks is my ‘Track of the Week’ feature. Every weekend, after scouring the underground and overground for new music to drop, I’ve been posting a link feature to the most stand out track I’ve found.

I’m going to mirror that content on this site and post the track information and link here also. It’s a good running feature because it keeps me motivated to get new music (knowing I’ve got to post something new up) and keeps me checking the new music releases.

Track of the Week – Alex Gopher – Handguns (Dada Life Remix)

You might have heard this, it’s been featured on Radio 1 a bit over the past couple of weeks – very nice song. Nice collective mix of some hard riffs with a nice oriental instrumental breakdown in the middle. Bit limited on the listen time, I’ve not found a decent version to listen to online (I bought it from Juno last week) but you can get a feel for it from the Juno listen link.  Hopefully should be appearing on YouTube soon.

After listening to various genres of music today on the good ol‘ faithful last, I think I’ve come to the conclusion that musical production effort and complexity seems to be much simpler than first thought. So simple in fact, that I’m almost proposing myself to produce a track this year. Note the almost.

Listening mainly to a wide range of electronica, nu-disco, electro-pop, electro-dance, and every other electronic funky disco nuance to come from the kids today, the track structure and their elements just seemed overwhelmingly simple on listening. Calvin Harris’s new track for example, I’m Not Alone is so basic is actually quite unreal. Now, you can argue sure, KISS, but seriously, I can’t imagine that song really took him longer than 4-5 days to produce from scratch, and the majority of the track is just a very simple trance beat with some pauses in, following the vocal introduction.

I’m not going to dissect the entire thing here, but really, I’d like to produce a song this year. My mixing skills are now pretty good and without serious repetitive work I think I’d find it hard to progress further on in that area (bar moving to other media which I’ll be doing).

Production it is. Anyone know a good place to start?
